Placing complexes into categories is a difficult task due to their recondite meaning and wide spectrum. An approach to dividing mental issues into categories is to consider what they relate to and what is their overall effect in our lives (POSITIVE – NEGATIVE)

o POSITIVE: leading to positive emotions and behaviors e.g. an turn up complicate in the form of feeling that you must always look perfect creates a commitment to your looks which will most probably enhance your turn up and make you feel and act more self-confident.
Just as things in life are not completely black or white (Yin-Yang), the overall effect of a mental issue is not always positive or negative. for example, although an inferiority issue might cause negative emotions of being inferior to others in some way, for some individuals it might act as an motive for achievement in order to prove to ourselves that we could be better than others.
Similarly, an achievement issue usually creates a motivation for productive work but it can also rule to limited personal or family life. Additionally, a high interrelationship between physical and mental issues exists e.g. a weight complicate might have an negative effect on our self-confidence.
Although placing mental issues into categories depends on the individual, the substance and general characteristics of each issue keep the same for everyone. consequently, it is easier to realize, approach and solve an issue based on its category. For example mental issues are approached more effectively by reprogramming our minds while physical issues usually allow for some concrete and tangible actions. Also, an individual should try to thoroughly conquer a negative mental issue but only focus on the negative effects when it comes to positive issues.
