Seven baby squirrels who managed to get their tails knotted together got so stuck they had to be rescued by police.
Officers were sent to sort out the chaos in Grand Blanc, Michigan, after a 911 call last Friday.
The squirrels had become fused together shortly after they were born.
They grew so big that their nest could no longer keep up them, and afterward fell to the ground.
Police then carefully separated the squirrels “under the watchful eye of mama squirrel”.
In a Facebook post, Grand Blanc Township Police Department described the incident that had taken place, writing: “SQUIRREL!!! Takes on a whole new meaning for officers.
“911 received a call of seven squirrels, who were tied together by their tails.
“Sure enough a scurry of young squirrels were found at the base of a tree, in the 2100 block of Russell St.
“It appears they became entangled while in their nest and finally grew to a point the nest couldn’t keep up them.
“Under the watchful eye of mama squirrel, officers with the help of a citizen were able to separate all seven kits.
“Their tails will need a little time to fill back in, but they are safe. Great team effort! #squirrelpower #crazybuttrue’.
Grand Blanc locals praised the reporting cops for helping the squirrels out of their sticky situation, which one woman named Barbara said was “one of the most bizarre things” she had ever heard of.
“That is truly amazing!!” she additional.
“Bless the wonderful Officers and neighbors that saved these babies lives, for they would have perished for sure.”
Another said: “Truly amazing. This is so scarce it couldn’t be made up. Thank you everyone involved in rescuing these babies.”
After finding out the animals were safe, others couldn’t help but make a few jokes.
One person commented: “That’s sure a closely-knit family.”
